Hello Sister!
So good to have you here, in my first blog and in my first post. As if I did not have enough projects, I had to create a blog too, right? :)
I think my creative and hyperactive brain never realises I already have too much in my hands. The truth is, I have so much to share! There's so much I want to write about, so many things to show you! And there is never a perfect timing to start something, you just have to do it!
The blog is about sewing, of course, but it would be strange if I just started it by talking only about machines, fabrics and patterns, even though they are things I enjoy so much. So I decided to start the blog with a post about myself, so you can know me a little bit better.
The people who already know me, can skip through this part, or maybe leave a question about me. For those who do not know me, I am Ariane. I am German, but I have been living in Portugal for 25 years.
Now I live in Lisbon, but it was in the Azores that I rediscovered my passion for sewing. Being the granddaughter and great-granddaughter of seamstresses, I always had the sewing bug, but for a while it was hibernating. :) In Lisbon, I took several courses at Modatex, having a diploma for pattern making, and I became a certified trainer. I was also an intern at Kolovrat's atelier.
However, there was a time when I felt the need to create a community of seamstresses, so i began the Sew Sisters. First, we met every month. Then, every week and after a while, my living room wasn't big enough. And that's when The Loft was born.
I have always enjoyed teaching, since I was a little girl, and now The Loft allows me to teach what I like the most: sewing. This space allows me to share everything I know, just like this blog. Here I can give you the wonderful and colourful world of sewing and fashion. I hope you enjoy it and feel as enthusiastic as I do!
So, even if you can't come to The Loft, you can go along this trip with me through the blog. :)
But I hope to see you this Saturday in the first Slow Talk with Jana, Rita and Sara from the show Cosido à Mão. They will talk about their experiences and it will be great moment to share ideas, inspire and motivate ourselves. There will also be food and drinks, of course. :)
Until Saturday! Keep the needles sharp!
Ariane
